Pulsed light hair reduction is a quick, painless and affordable treatment that will give you permanent results so you can remain hair free all the time.

Pulsed light systems are similar to lasers, but with a larger smooth beam and long pulse for safe, fast and comfortable treatment.

Using the Palomar handpiece, pulses of light are emitted into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.

Any area of the body can be treated for hair reduction with the exception of directly around the eyes.

Your treatment time is very quick. Some areas may take as little as 5 minutes. Larger areas such as the back can be treated in about half an hour. A course of treatments (6-8) is recommended for permanent results.

IPL with the Palomar MultiLux is very comfortable. The handpiece used for hair reduction has built in cooling and eliminates the need for messy gels. Most people liken the sensation as a rubber band being snapped on the skin but do not report this as painful. Many people find it more comfortable than waxing.

After treatment you can expect a mild sunburn like sensation which usually lasts about 30 minutes. For some people this feeling may last a little longer though it can be soothed with gels or ice packs.

The treated hair will continue to appear for 7-14 days. This is not new hair growth, but the treated hairs being expelled from the skin.

Prior to your appointment it is advisable to shave the area to be treated as it is easier to shave at home in the shower than dry shave in the clinic.

Pregnant? Although there is no scientific evidence that Intense pulse light will harm an unborn child, it is our policy not to treat during your pregnancy. Hair growth during pregnancy is most likely hormonal and it is most likely that your treatment would be unsuccessful. You would be wasting your time and money.
